So Television GeeFX Studios Ltd. - Motion Designer

Title Sequence for Graham Norton's Good Story Guide, a compilation TV show of clips from The Graham Norton Show.

For this project I was Art Director and sole Graphics Designer. I was responsible for creating the entire title sequence graphics, from conception to completion. The comic book 'page' was drawn and coloured by hand in Photoshop, then layered up in 3D space in After Effects to give a parallax when the camera pans over. The speech bubbles, additional colour adjustments, and effect overlays were also done in AE.

Most of the time on this project was spent in creating the comic book page. I started with screenshots from the episodes and framed them up in a pleasing composition.

Once the images were signed off, I started the laborious task of hand-drawing each celebrity in Photoshop, using my iPad as an input device.

I then took this page into After Effects, separated the layers in Z-space and created a camera move to whip through all of the celebrities. The text and textures were added at this stage, then additional colour corrections and depth of field to give a rich quality.

Ancestry Ratchet Ltd. - Senior Motion Graphics Designer

Social campaign for Ancestry, generating more familiarity with the brand's redesign.

For this project I was the Art Director, and sole Graphics Designer. As the client wanted to generate more brand awareness and familiarity it was imperative that I base my entire design tightly around the brand guidelines. The style I developed was simple so that it removed any noise, yet effective at sticking closely to the brand. In fact it was so successful the client later came back asking for additional regional versions!

As the final product was going to be entirely graphics-based, it was imperitive that I got the storyboard fully detailed out before initiating production.

Once this was signed off I took these frames into the animatic stage, and recorded a guide VO to time them out to. As the storyboard frames were made in Illustrator, it made it incredibly easy to bring the layers in to After Effects in order to animate.

BBC Global News Ratchet Ltd. - Senior Motion Graphics Designer

BBC Global News approached us to create a sizzle reel to introduce the theme of their 2020 Newfront - "A Day in Your Life". So we adapted this to show different touch points of BBC News with a user throughout the day - shown with different times and emphasised with different animated styles.

This gave us an opportunity not not only try a wide array of different animated styles (fun!) but also send the message that there is a wide variety of different things found on the BBC News website (music, food, health, etc.)

Ancestry Ratchet Ltd. - Senior Motion Graphics Designer

An ad campaign for Ancestry, celebrating the King's Coronation in London.

For this job I was co-Art Director, and produced about half of the animation in the final TV advert. It involved a lot of rotoscoping of 6.5K RED RAW footage which we shot in a studio, then composited into 3D space in After Effects. As the project went on it became obvious how successful it would become, and so additional deliverables in the shape of DOOH and OOH boards were added to the brief by the client.

Based on previous work with Ancestry, I thought it'd be sensible to prepare a style that would work on both a dark and light background. In the end the client went with the light background option as it felt more in-keeping with the celebratory feeling.

I also did some tests with an AI tool to add some movement into any supplied photo assets. While this did work, it wasn't used for the final video.

Financial Times Ratchet Ltd. - Senior Motion Graphics Designer

The purpose of this video is to show how every story in the news is linked to another, and how this world is more connected than ever. For this I was part of the design team. We used some graphical shots, in conjunction with a series of stock footage to represent the varieties of news subjects that FT covers, and to show how one affects the other we used a series of different kinds of wipe transitions.
I also created several shots from scratch as we couldn't find something to suit our needs on the stock footage websites.

BBC Studios Ratchet Ltd. - Senior Motion Graphics Designer

BBC Studios approached us to create a stylised overview video which they can show to prospective advertisers, to show the ad spots in which they'd be able to place advertisements on the newly designed BBC.com website.
Inspired by the new clean design of the website we decided to keep the style clean and minimalistic, and let the website speak for itself.
